As the processing unit in Village Gulpani Nokat, Rongara Block, South Garo Hills, gains momentum, the farmers of this region are actively stepping up to supply agricultural produce for value addition. With daily purchases nearing 1.5 MT, it's a collaborative win for both the farmers and the co-operative processors. By picking up the produce directly from the farmers' doorsteps, many small farmers are benefiting from immediate local markets and reduced logistics costs. And all this is happening in one of the remotest villages in the world!
This model can be replicated across the country, not only to enhance the farmers' incomes, but also generate non-agri livelihoods amongst the rural farming communities. Stay tuned to check our value-added products, right from the farms of Meghalaya, to hit the markets!
