A•BANI, meaning "fresh from the farm" in Garo and "the earth" in Sanskrit, symbolizes the Garo tribe—one of Meghalaya’s major indigenous communities.Known for its matrilineal society and deep bond with nature, the Garo tribe stands out for its vibrant cultural traditions. In the remote village of Gulpani, Nokat in Rongara Block, Meghalaya, a remarkable all-women cooperative is producing delicious jackfruit chips without palm oil. This initiative empowers local farmers, preserves traditional practices, and brings economic hope to one of the world's remotest corners. Rich in fiber, antioxidants, and essential nutrients, these chips support digestion, boost immunity, and contribute directly to sustainable, inclusive development.
